Join us for a walking tour exploring Where Women Made History in Columbia, Missouri. This approximately two-hour, half-mile experience highlights the places and spaces where women shaped Columbia’s story — and celebrates the leadership, creativity, and determination that helped build our community. Ann Hawkins Gentry, Mary Louise Hale, and Annie Fisher are among the women featured in Where Women Made History: The First Chapter. Participants will discover historic buildings, explore their architectural significance, and learn the powerful stories of the remarkable women connected to these spaces. CoMo Preservation is a 100% volunteer-led organization. This tour was created by a passionate group of individuals dedicated to sharing the stories of the inspiring women and the historic buildings connected to their lives and work.
Your tour guide will be Dianna Borsi O'Brien. The author of the 2021 book Historic Movie Theaters of Columbia, Dianna calls herself a Columbia native wannabe. A Columbia resident since 1998, she was bitten by the historic preservation bug in 2010 when she stumbled upon the connection between economic development and historic preservation while reporting on a local historic reclamation project. When she’s not babbling about Sanborn maps or city directories, Dianna can be found traveling or hiking or best of all, doing both.
