In 1998, the City of Columbia’s Historic Preservation Commission established the Most Notable Property (MNP) Program, as a way to recognize and celebrate the historical significance of properties in Columbia, Missouri.

When a property receives the Most Notable Property designation, there is no protection against demolition. However, recognition could be a step toward preserving the property and its neighborhood. Note, a MNP designation includes no restrictions on the use or alterations of the building.
